I’ve been obsessed with jewelry maker VERAMEAT for a long, hot, sizzling minute now. My favorite pieces are the “Vampire Crown” and “Got Heart” ring, pictured above. There is a Verameat shop in the East Village, and every day my itch to stop by and snap up these tiny and perfect charms grows exponentially. Maybe after classes are over at school I can reward myself for the semester’s work. In the meantime, I’m dying under a mountain of work for final exams the size of Mount Everest.

Last night I headed to the Garment district for the Big Star Denim USA Summer Social. The clothing preview was hosted by Proper Fools Showroom, and it was a full-fledged denim affair. There was an awesome photo booth set up by Smile Booth. Guests also had the chance DIY their own embellished collars from scrap denim and metal studs and spikes. I created a white collar with gold spikes that I can’t wait to wear!

Wearing head to toe vintage: 80’s Ann Taylor velvet blouse, Levi’s shorts, Pony hair boots & hat

Here I am out for a walk with my little monster. Chapeau is now 12 weeks old and growing fast. He’s hilarious and will do anything for a laugh. His favorite things to do are sleep, play tug of war, and eat my hair.

Wearing vintage blouse, Vintage Fendi pants, Jeffrey Campbell shoes, Buffalo Exchange & F21 jewelry

This week I went thrifting in a new part of town around Times Square. Numerous friends had recommended this Salvation Army on 46th Street between 10th and 11th Ave, so I decided to finally head to midtown and see what all the commotion was about. I was delighted when I walked in and saw that the racks were neatly organized and sections clearly marked. I went on half off Wednesday, and to my surprise, the place was not crowded at all! At the register, I paid for my pile of velvet. The temperature is slowly rising here in New York, but I couldn’t help buying pieces in this soft and thick- totally unfit for summer- fabric.

My favorite purchase are these 80’s vintage Fendi pants. Yeah, you heard me right! And for only $6, I couldn’t care less how inappropriate they are for the season.

Spiked bracelet, cut out cuffs and collar necklace from Forever 21

I picked out some new pieces to add to my ever dwindling jewelry collection. I always somehow manage to lose or misplace rings and earrings for months at a time. When finally found, my interest has usually waned in wanting to wear the charms. However, I’m loving this necklace, bracelet and pair of cuffs. They’re bulky and statment-y enough that I’m sure to hold on to them for a while. Absent minded much?

Up above is a photo of post-thrift happiness and below is me paying for my pile of velvet. I know, it will be warm soon, but I just can’t pass up the creamy, velvety pieces of a dark palette. More to come about what I thrifted in tomorrow’s “Thrifted Thursday” post on Sparknotes!

Allure Mag + Pantene Pro V hosted a pop up salon in Bryant Park today. My hair was already curled, so the stylist pinned it back and created a loose pony. She showed me some quick tips to create this do on my own. I really love this style, and am amazed at how easy this look is to achieve. So perfect for summer!

IFB PROJECT #45: THAT ONE SPECIAL PIECE

Create a post that showcases your one special piece. Whether it’s a family heirloom or a plain white tee from Hanes, if it makes you feel beautiful, confident and put together – that’s what matters.

One of my most valued pieces in my closet are these glittery sequined pants. I bought them from a consignment store, but unfortunately they don’t have any kind of label inside, so I don’t know who makes them. This is my go to pair of pants when I have “nothing to wear”. When that thought crosses my mind, I figure, “Why not just got all out, if I literally can’t think of anything else to slip into”. They are a lot of look, and really need no accessorizing.

I never knew I’d have such an affinity for beaded and sequined clothing, but here I am putting some shine on my gams.

Check out other blogger’s most prized pieces here.

Meet my new puppy,
Introducing: CHAPEAU!

I made a silly little tumblr dedicated to this silly little guy. If you happen to be interested in what this monkey does on a day to day basis, go ahead and follow the blog here. It’s more for my amusement and so I can use it as a “baby book”, but I’m more than happy to share it with everyone.
